QLF Ray Cam for Plaque visualisation
At Ash Aesthetics we pride ourselves on our ability to provide you with the very latest dental technology. The QLF Ray Cam is an innovative method used to detect dental problems and improve your oral hygiene more effectively than ever before.
We are one of a select few clinics in the Northwest to have this technology and have been selected by the Univeristy of Liverpool to pilot this state of the art equipment for the benefit of the oral health of our patients.
About the QLF Ray Cam
QLF stands for Quantitative Light-Induced Fluorescence. This unique camera detects and monitors early stages of tooth decay caused by active bacteria producing tissue-dissolving acids. This is the world’s first piece of technology to detect demineralisation at a stage so early it enables us to stall further development of decay.
The QLF Ray Camera takes photos of the teeth and uses a fluorescent light to highlight any plaque that has been present for more than three days. Areas where such plaque is present will show up in an orange/red light so they are easily detected. This helps us to show you which areas you might be missing when you brush your teeth and from there we can help you formulate a perfect oral hygiene routine to keep your teeth and gums in perfect working order.
Using this method is a great opportunity to show you how to effectively assess your oral health. The QLF images are extremely clear and are a much preferable option to plaque disclosure agents, which temporarily stain the affected areas of the teeth.
